Dramatic Cotswold wedding
Etting ton Park Hotel
When I think of a cotswold wedding, generally it’s a barn with fields and a light an airy photographer and it all looks a little the same, a little boring… Well when I started chatting to Victoria and Jake their wedding sounded right up my street. They told me they were getting married at Ettington park just outside of Stratford upon Avon and they wanted dramatic and epic photographs. This venue has been on my radar for a little while and to book a couple that want dramatic photos and are well up for a portrait was perfect!
The Morning
myself and Soph (second photographer) Rocked up at Ettington Park at around 9am to scope the place out and find some portrait locations for later and get some social media bits too. We then split up to get the brides and grooms getting readies and things where in full swing in room 47 with the girls when I arrived with makeup being sorted, hair being curled and dresses steamed. The morning was great fun and had very low stress too and I grabbed one of my favourite dress shots ever.
The ceremony
at around 11:30 we left Ettington park and headed for Warwick church about 30minutes away So these guys could tie the knot and get hitched! isle walk was done, a first kiss was had and confetti was thrown. This is always the biggest most important part of anyones wedding day… the actual getting married bit you know ??
Portrait session at Ettington park
We arrived back at Ettington park and straight away got to work on a list of group photos in the garden. I like to keep these short and sweet as everyone gets real tired of my voice and wants to grab a drink. I grabbed Vicotria and Jake and off we went for their first portrait session around Ettington park. I have to be honest here, these two where naturals and didn’t mind the camera at all and loved some of the odd prompts I love to give..
The middle bit of the day
This bit always flies by for me. Drinks were had, speeches were given, food was eaten and before you know it, it was sunset and what a sunset it was. I was just throwing on my camera harness when Victoria and Jake appeared and wanted some sunset piccies! I love it when couples are as keen as me to make the most of great light!
The evening
When food finished we called everyone out by their birth month to grab photos of them in groups with the bride and groom so they could build a calendar for next year….. what a great idea that was! While the band set up I took the couple for one last portrait session in the grounds at night, This was great fun because I had ideas and so did they and they all worked out great. We went to the ruins in the grounds, we went to the newest parts of the hotel and we also had some fun with the bedroom window too. The night was finnished off with a ceilidh which in my opinion if you get the right band is the best way to get your guests up and dancing and is a hell of a lot of fun to photograph.
