FAQ
Got questions? Good.
Here are the ones people actually ask, answered straight, no filler.
Q: Are you actually alternative, or is that just your marketing?
1.
I'm tattooed, I live on a narrowboat, and the last gig I went to definitely wasn't Ed Sheeran. I shoot the weddings I'd actually want to attend. If your wedding involves black dresses, a gothic venue, a ceremony at dusk, or guests who look like they've come from a festival, you're my kind of couple. This isn't a niche I fell into. It's where I belong.
Q:Will I feel awkward in front of the camera?
2.
Probably, for about 30 seconds. Then you won't. Everyone feels weird in front of a camera at first, that's not a you problem, it's a human problem. I don't do stiff posing or cheesy prompts. We take a walk, have a laugh, and I take photos while you stop thinking about me. The dramatic portraits we do take are directed and intentional, but they never feel forced. You'll be surprised.
Q:What kinds of weddings do you shoot?
3.
Gothic ceremonies. Punk receptions. Forest elopements. Viking-themed celebrations. Warehouse parties. Industrial venues. Tattooed couples getting married on clifftops. Couples who've never fit the wedding mould. I've shot weddings in Sicilian castles and Bristol warehouses and a fair few places in between.
I'll also shoot more traditional weddings, I just dial up the fluffy vibes a bit. But if you're here, I suspect you're not planning anything traditional.
4.
Q: How much does it cost?
Packages start from £995. I also cover destination weddings, f you cover flights and hotel, I'll often waive the travel fee for somewhere I actually want to go.
Booking is 25% upfront, with the remaining 75% due 6 weeks before your wedding. No brutal lump sums.

6.
Q: What's the money back guarantee?
Exactly what it sounds like. If you're not happy with what I deliver and I can't fix it, I'll refund you. No hoops. No small print. No arguments. I'm confident enough in my work to back it up like that.
Q: How far in advance should I book?
7.
9–18 months if you can. Popular venues and peak season dates (May–September) go fast. That said if your wedding is coming up sooner, still get in touch. Cancellations happen.
Q: Do you travel for destination weddings and elopements?
8.
Yes. Enthusiastically. I've shot in Scotland, Sicily, the Scilly Isles, and a handful of other places. If you're getting married somewhere interesting and want me there, cover the travel and accommodation and I'll make it work. There are certain dream destinations where I'll be particularly easy to convince.
Q: Do you do engagement shoots?
9.
Yes, and I'd recommend them. Not because you need the practice (though it helps), but because arriving on your wedding day already knowing how I work makes everything easier. We find a location that feels like you, spend an hour or two together, and you walk away with some solid photos and a much better idea of what to expect on the day.
10.
Q: How do I book?
Drop me a message with your date, venue, and a bit about what you're planning. I'll reply with a voice note, it's a much better way to get a feel for each other than a generic email. After a quick no obligation call, if we're a good fit, we'll get you booked in with a signed contract and 25% deposit.
11.
Q: DO YOU SHOOT VIDEO AS WELL AS PHOTOS?
No. I do one thing and I do it properly. Photography is my craft, and I've spent a decade getting really good at it. If you need a videographer, I can point you towards people I trust but I won't dilute what I do by trying to do everything.
12.
Q: CAN WE MEET BEFORE WE BOOK?
Yes, and I'd encourage it. A quick call or voice note exchange goes a long way. You shouldn't hand over money to someone you've never spoken to, and I shouldn't shoot a wedding for people I haven't connected with. If we're not a good fit, I'll tell you and probably suggest someone who is.
13.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU'RE ILL OR SOMETHING GOES WRONG ON THE DAY?
I have a network of trusted photographers I can call on. It has never happened, but I'm not the kind of person who leaves things to chance. You'll have a signed contract and your wedding will be covered. That's a promise.
14.
Q: HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL WE GET?
Enough. Not a number padded out with duplicates and blurry throwaways but proper, edited images that tell the story of your day. For a full day that's typically 400 to 600 images, sometimes more. Quality over quantity, always.
15.
Q: DO YOU EDIT ALL THE PHOTOS YOURSELF?
Every single one. No outsourcing, no batch processing, no handing your memories to a stranger with a Lightroom preset. I edit the way I shoot, with intention. What you see in my portfolio is what you'll get.
16.
Q: WHAT IF OUR WEDDING IS PRETTY TRADITIONAL?
Then I'll shoot it brilliantly and dial back the dark arts. You don't need to be getting married in a crypt to work with me. If you like my style and trust my eye, that's enough. I just ask that you let me do my thing rather than hand me a shot list of 47 group photos.
17.
Q: CAN WE GIVE YOU A SHOT LIST?
A short one for family groups, yes, absolutely. A spreadsheet of 60 must-have moments, no. Over-choreographed days produce stiff, forgettable photos. The real stuff happens in between the planned bits, and that's where I'll be.
18.
Q: WHAT AREAS DO YOU COVER?
Based in the Cotswolds but I travel. The Midlands, Bristol, London, Wales, Scotland, all fair game. Destination weddings too. Geography isn't really a barrier if the wedding is right.
19.
Q: HOW LONG WILL YOU BE THERE ON THE DAY?
As long as you need me. There's no clock watching, no disappearing at 9pm because your package ran out. I stay until the story's done, usually first dance and beyond. When the meaningful moments stop, I'll head off but not before.
20.
Q: WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY LOVE ABOUT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?
The unscripted bits. The dad holding it together until he suddenly isn't. The chaotic ten minutes before the ceremony when everyone's laughing out of nerves. The moment two people forget everyone else is there. That stuff can't be posed or planned. I just have to be ready for it and I always am.
21.
Q: HAVE YOU SHOT AT OUR VENUE BEFORE?
Possibly, and if so I'll already know the light, the best spots, and which corners to avoid. If not, I'll do my homework beforehand. I'll visit if I can, scout it on maps if I can't, and arrive early on the day to get my bearings. An unfamiliar venue has never been a problem. A photographer who doesn't prepare, that's a problem.
22.
Q: WILL YOU DEFINITELY BE THE ONE SHOOTING OUR WEDDING?
Yes. Always. You're booking me, not an associate, not a second shooter flying solo, not someone I've subcontracted because I doubled booked. I shoot every wedding I take on. That's non-negotiable.
23.
Q: WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE AND DO YOU HAVE BACKUPS?
Professional grade Sony kit and yes, full backups of everything. Two camera bodies, multiple lenses, spare batteries, spare memory cards. Equipment fails occasionally, even good equipment. I come prepared for that so it never becomes your problem.
24.
Q: CAN WE SEE A FULL WEDDING GALLERY BEFORE WE BOOK?
Yes, and I'd expect you to ask. A highlight reel tells you what a photographer wants you to see. A full gallery tells you how they handle an entire day, the quiet moments, the tricky lighting, the speeches, the dancing. Ask me and I'll send one over.
25.
Q: WILL OUR PHOTOS APPEAR ON YOUR WEBSITE OR SOCIAL MEDIA?
Probably yes, because sharing my work is how I find couples like you. But if you'd rather keep things private I'll respect that completely, no awkwardness, no pressure. Just tell me upfront and it goes in the contract. Your wedding, your call.
26.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS TERRIBLE?
We're in Britain. I'd be a pretty poor wedding photographer if bad weather threw me. Rain can be brilliant, overcast skies make for beautiful soft light, and a couple who don't mind getting a bit damp usually end up with the most memorable photos. I shoot in all conditions and I know how to make the most of every single one of them.
27.
Q: DO YOU HAVE PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE?
Yes, fully insured. Most reputable venues will require this and any photographer who can't confirm it immediately is one to walk away from. Ask for proof, it's completely reasonable and any professional will expect you to.
