I'm Khya. Tattooed. Rock music obsessed. Currently living on a narrowboat I'm renovating while I cruise the UK's inland waterways. I've been shooting weddings for over a decade, and I've never once wanted to be the kind of photographer who makes you stand in a field doing forced smiles.

I gravitate towards the weddings that have a bit of edge to them. Dramatic venues. Dark aesthetics. Couples who look like themselves rather than a version of themselves they think they're supposed to be.

Why I started doing this

I spent years photographing perfectly nice, perfectly forgettable weddings. Then I started working with couples who were different people with tattoos and band shirts and wedding themes that made traditional photographers flinch and I realised: this is what I'm here for.

These are my people. And they deserve photos that actually reflect who they are.

What shooting with me actually looks like

We meet before anything else. I'm not showing up to your wedding as a stranger with a camera. We'll have a proper conversation first video call, phone, maybe a beer. You'll get a feel for who I am. I'll get a feel for what you want.

On the day, I blend in. I'm not barking directions or making everyone line up for shots every five minutes. I capture the real moments, the noise, the quiet, the chaos and when we do portraits, we make them count. Dramatic. Cinematic. Actually you.
